Thanks Lighning. Feel free to move this posting to the right place.

I did some research on my own and it seems very viable to create a package out of it with either mserver or linesrvr. Both are very similar and they only need one binary to be extracted and one configuration file.

Both need a script to bring pppd up and down.

Actually, I finally got it working; if anyone is interested I can document what I did but basically this is what I have done so far and it is working.

1. get mserver executable to /sbin
2. copy and edit mserver.conf to /etc
3. create a script to bring pppd up and one to bring it down. I just got ppp-up and ppp-down to do this. I also had to create a chatscript under /etc/ppp
4. Got the client in Windows XP add the IP address and the port where mserver is listening and got the connection and the modem to dial from XP.

Executing: /etc/ppp/ppp-up
PPPD Process Started
Dialing Modem
Modem connected
Chat script successful
PAP authentication failedConnection terminated

Now, I am going for lsserver (he he)

This seems good material for a package
