Announcements of packages that are now released.

Hello,
I've packaged <a href='http://www.exim.org' target='_blank'>exim</a> with <a href='http://duncanthrax.net/exiscan-acl/' target='_blank'>exiscan</a> for all you FREESCO users.
Exiscan is a patch that adds email content scanning to the exim mailserver. Exim_exiscan is a powerfull email server that can scan mails against malware (viruses) and blacklisted regular expressions, as well as working with spamassassin ( the spamd daemon which I have packaged too and will be releasing it soon as well).
There are several antiviruses scanner that are working with exim_exiscan, one of them is <a href='http://www.antivir.de/en/products/antivir_server/index.html' target='_blank'>antivir</a>, for which exists already <a href='http://forums.freesco.org/support/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=12365' target='_blank'>packages</a> for FREESCO, and is the default mailscanner used in my package. If you need support for another one (Clamav, Kaspersky, Sophie, ...)just better read the docs inside the package, or ask me.
Quote from the exim doc :
The exiscan-acl patch adds  content scanning to the  exim4 ACL
system. It supports the following scanning facilities:

- MIME unpacking, sanity checking, file extension blocking
- Antivirus using 3rd party scanners
- Antispam using SpamAssassin
- Regular expression match against headers and body

These facilities are hooked into exim by adding new conditions
to exim's ACL system. These conditions are designed to be used
in the acl_smtp_data ACL. It is run when the sending host  has
completed the DATA phase and is waiting for our final response
to his end-of-data marker. This allows  us to  reject messages
containing unwanted content at that stage.

The exiscan-acl patch also defines several expansion variables
that can be used to customise the error responses sent to  the
remote server.

The  default  exim  configure  file  contains  commented
configuration examples for all facilites.

As for Spamassassin, the default policy is to rewrite subject headers to add SPAM in the Subject, therefore allowing every user to filter the mails received and redirect them via there MUA to a different folder.
The default configuration file is commented in order to help you figure out what you can do with the ACL_content_check facility.

The documentation lies in /usr/local/exim/doc and covers all the aspect of this facility as well as the original exim 4.2 specification document.

To install use this command :
Code: Select all
pkg -i http://afpercu.hopto.org/packages/03x/exim_exiscan_4.20_phbc50

Hope you like it,
best regards,

Hello,
I am very concerned about this problem since i thought i had fixed it a long time ago. But as said in my post the solution lies in user permission rights. So to get rid of these messages means that you have to change the permissions in the /usr/local/exim folder. Try this :
Code: Select all
cd /usr/local/exim
chmod 777 var/log
chmod 777 var

After that type rc_exim restart, and it should work .
Hope this helps,
best regards,
