hping2 (rc3) released

Announcements of packages that are now released.

Postby dingetje » Thu Dec 23, 2004 4:36 am

<a href='http://www.hping.org' target='_blank'>hping</a> is a command-line oriented TCP/IP packet assembler/analyzer. The interface is inspired to the ping(8) unix command, but hping isn't only able to send ICMP echo requests. It supports TCP, UDP, ICMP and RAW-IP protocols, has a traceroute mode, the ability to send files between a covered channel, and many other features.

This package is based on hping2 Release Candidate 3 (rc3).

The package does not contain the full blown libc.so.5 lib, so if it fails on a bare bone FREESCO, install f.i. my OpenSSH package first.

Code: Select all
pkg -i http://dingetje.homeip.net/packages/0.3.x/hping2_rc3_dingetje

I made a VERY simple package (if you can call it that) that contains only one file, the full libc.so.5

There's no rc_file, no setup and no uninstall

Link removed by Lightning

BTW... Very nice work, thanks Dingetje!

Tom, I am sorry that I removed the link for the full libc.so.5 package. The problem is that there is no test in your package to see if that library already exists. If you use the newest version of the packager script it will automatically correct this deficency The reason is because this one library can ONLY be upgraded once and if you do it a second time it instantly crashes the system to a state that can only be recovered by booting a floppy install and correcting the corrupted libc.so.5 library. If you correct the problem just edit this thread and remove my comments when you put the link back.
P.S. there are a number of good examples in existing packages as well that can be used such as in the new mc-4.6.0 package, along with quite a few others as well.

Regards,
Lightning

FYI: I've just installed hping on a bare-bone FREESCO 03x and as it turns out the package requires a kernel with support for shared memory (just like the Apache package does) for some of the functions (I tried the port scanner).

If you try the package on a not supported kernel you may get:

Code: Select all
[shm_creat] shmget: Function not implemented

people that have installed a kernel with SYSV for Apache should be OK.
