HTP 0.4.4 package

Announcements of packages that are now released.

As requested <a href='' target='_blank'>here</a>, I've made a package for FREESCO 03x for <a href='' target='_blank'>HTP</a>.

HTP is not really a protocol, but uses a feature from HTTP, aka web traffic. According the specifications of HTTP (RFC 2616) a web server needs to put a timestamp in a response to a web browser request. In web browsers you don't see the HTTP headers, but these headers contain a timestamp in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), accurate in seconds.

This port to FREESCO 03x contains both the server (htpd) and the client (htpdate) based on the HTP "protocol". It's basically a replacement for FREESCO's own time service, by using the HTTP protocol, rather than NTP (Network Time Protocol). I advice therefore only to install this package when the time service on FREESCO is disabled. Can't have two captains on the same ship and all that...

Package installs with:

Code: Select all
pkg -i

Use rc_htp setup to change the default htpd.conf. The htpd server will send messages to your system log.
