Postby spaceman » Tue Feb 01, 2005 8:31 am

I am proud to announce my first Freesco tar.gz package.

Unreal IRCD V3.2 ans Auspices services V2.8.1 ,both latest, and last realeases.

-=] UPDATED 2 februari [=-
forget all abouth the crap what was here.
i have made a real package of it :)

you can do 2 things..
1] download it from the website via <a href='http://home.wanadoo.nl/spatieman/freesco/' target='_blank'>http://home.wanadoo.nl/spatieman/freesco/</a>
2] pkg -i <a href='http://home.wanadoo.nl/spatieman/freesco/Unreal_IRCD_V3.2-Auspices_2.8.1-spatieman' target='_blank'>http://home.wanadoo.nl/spatieman/freesco/U...2.8.1-spatieman</a>

anny troubs.
i hear it.. (hope not)

Some minor changes in the RC scripting..
i also changed a few things in auspices.
i found out :( that the files in the BIN dir where linked, , you could copy them ,but not erease it..
i moved the files to the auspices dir it self, and it stil work.
rc_auspices is moved to /usr/local/bin ,so that is it NOT autostarted, but you can manualy stop it.

Updated, this day ,a bit to much!
PRE Release 7 :)
Yes..
this time its working..

FIRST read the readme !!
and change eventualy all the items. (or at least the passwords)
functions.
rc_auspices start :starts the auspices services
rc_auspices stop :stops the services
rc_auspices restart :restarts the services (not recomended)

rc_unreal stop :stops the ircd server, remember that services will stop also!!
rc_unreal restart :stops and starts the IRCD server, remember that services go down to
rc_unreal rehash :rehasing the config file when edited some minor changes (no efect on services)
rc_unreal start :starts the irc server

I tested the both packages, and they do work.

if you think you can be better as me, go ahead, but dont ask me any questions than.

inprogress:
a howto if you want to link your ircd TO a other unreal network.
a howto if someone want to link to you.

Other word off comment:

ok, there are also PTlink IRCD with services.

both packages (unreal ircd and PTlink ircd) can used as standallone
but also in network mode.

problem is that i cant get PTlink ircd to get connected to a other server.
However, Unreal IRCD is a bit easy'r to config..

this howto is in progress..

any comment ,pleasy mail of PM me..
if i can help, i wil do i, other usefull sources are here.

Congrats on your first non-package release, but why don't you go the extra mile and make a real package out of it?
Using Lightnings package script, this is really very very easy, specially in the state you're package is already.
I have written a short howto <a href='http://dingetje.homeip.net/dokuwiki/freesco:howtos:how_to_create_an_add-on_package' target='_blank'>article</a> in the FREESCO DokuWiki that is hopefully of use.

problem 2 ,if i run zip in realmode (dos) i also have no network..
i work on a laptop with a wireless pcmcia card,

i compiled it, tar.gz it ,copied in windows out, imported in freesco ,tested it..
but i do install the packager, the soft way.. :)

but why don't you go the extra mile and make a real package out of it?

I don't think it is even an extra mile, more like half a mile and to address all of the problems with running Zipslack. Just install the packager script on your router, which is a much better place to do packaging in the first place. That way you can create the package and get it running on your router and then just copy the working package into the packaging directory structure. The package script was originally designed to run on FREESCO and it was later adapted to run on Zipslack and Slackware. The first full package is always the hardest.

unpacker didnt placed all files in the correct directory

Hehe, that can happen. But usually it is caused by the packager
