DAlbum 1.38 build 147 (the works)

Announcements of packages that are now released.

Hi,

DAlbum is a free PHP photo album. It is small, easy to install and highly customizable at the same time. Features include image comments, support for video, music and PDF files and many more.

The DAlbum website is at <a href='http://www.dalbum.org' target='_blank'>http://www.dalbum.org</a>

My own example website is at <a href='http://lepricons.dontexist.com' target='_blank'>http://lepricons.dontexist.com</a>

I installed DAlbum 1.38 build 147 and build in the extra Bonus pack and user comments. The album shows EXIF lines like the camera that was used, the date, time, ISO, exposure, etc. (If its in the picture.)
It has build in several languages and detects the language automatically.
I added further options like a seperate directory for the thumbnails etc, etc.

It does not need a database.
Usually no configuration is necessary - DAlbum starts working immediately. Yet many configuration options are available for advanced users.
Works with PHP in safe mode and does not require register_globals PHP option to be set. Does not generate any PHP warnings and notices either.
All you need to publish your pictures is to upload original image files to the server using FTP or by other means. DAlbum will recognize used directory structure, automatically resize large images to desired resolution and create thumbnails.
If your pictures are already organized on the hard-drive you can keep the same directory structure on the server.
DAlbum is ideal for running a web-server on home PC - no need to create a copy of your images; just specify where your files are located and DAlbum will use them.
Nested albums are supported.
PHP is required. I tested with thttpd with PHP from icyK and with apache_1.3.27_dingetje.

Default login is admin with password admin.
Default every visitor can comment. This can be changed to validated users only.

I made a tar.bz2 with the help of midnight commander-4.6.0 and I hope you all can download and extract the files to your www directory.

I tried to create a package but did not find the www directory in the package package from Lightning. I will try and figure out how to make a package anyway.

Enjoy!

A tar.bz2 file can be unpacked on FREESCO using the next command (requires utils_1.x_dingetje package):

Code: Select all
tar -yvxf filename.tar.bz2

P.S. Marc, I'm getting:

[Linux] snarf <a href='http://jota.kicks-ass.net/files/dalbum-138.2-marc.tar.bz2' target='_blank'>http://jota.kicks-ass.net/files/dalbum-138.2-marc.tar.bz2</a>
error: opening dalbum-138.2-marc.tar.bz2: Permission denied

Hi,

Thanks for the warning.
I added pdf support and changed the version number.
I changed the owner of the tar.bz2 to noboddy and chmodded ther file to 777.

Please try again.
Here it downloads okay but please try and report.

It's working!

Maybe worth mentioning that the default admin password is admin.

So I advice you change that right away after installation (login as admin, then under users menu, change password).

Hi,

Take care for the exact spelling.

Thanks Strampke,

I removed the old version. The new version has more extensive EXIF information and I enabled the 16 languages.
