PCMCIA

Announcements of packages that are now released.

Postby Lightning » Tue Apr 15, 2003 4:12 am

I have created a true PCMCIA package. In theory it should install and run without any configuration at all and comes with a wide range of drivers built in. As this package has had very limited testing. Such as twice ( Thanks Dingetje). I would consider it in the alpha stage. Also because of it's very nature requires a little different install procedure. Just extract the two files from the zip file (pcmcia pcmcia.tgz)and put it into the /www directory of your router. This procedure does currently require a hard drive install.

Availible at <a href='http://www.freescosoft.com/home/' target='_blank'>FREESCOsoft</a> PLEASE use link below until the new version is published.

Update to this package. Added support for about five more cards. Cleaned up some code and included all source code into the zip file.

Another update to this package. This package has been remade to support the new 2.0.40 kernel that FREESCO v0.3.3 is released with. It also still supports the 2.0.39 kernel that is included in all previous versions of the 03x series. The package has been uploaded to FREESCOsoft, but it will most like be a while before it is published. For those who need it right at this moment you can get it at this location <a href='http://www.freesco.net/packages/pcmcia-3.1.34-lightning.zip' target='_blank'>pcmcia-3.1.34-lightning.zip</a>
As soon as this file is updated on FREESCOsoft this link will be removed.

Edit: OT post moved <a href='http://forums.freesco.org/support/index.php?act=ST&f=21&t=11810' target='_blank'>here</a>.
The documentation on how to install a package is in the package, at least for the PCMCIA package. D/L and unzip. (Doh!)
:biggrin2:

edit2:
FYI, I found the pkg here:
<a href='http://www.freescosoft.com/home/html/FREESCO/non-package/v0.3.x/pcmcia_---_lightning.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.freescosoft.com/home/html/FREES...-_lightning.htm</a>
A search of the US mirrors for pcmcia turned up nothing, but the .ca site had it. It's propagating, I guess...

This section of the forum is for "package announcements" and not for support.

Hi

Yesterday I downloded the "pcmcia-3.1.34-lightning" package from FREESCOSOFT.
Before downloading it I checked that it was the same version number as you
have for your updated package in this thread. To my surprise I did not work with
033, it claimed that there was kernal version differences.

After downloading the package from your link in this thread everything worked fine.

Parhaps you should step up the version number on your updated package, so that
it is clear that there is a differance between the package your link is pointing to, and
the version on FREESCOSOFT.

By the way I have used 027 for some years (am still using it).
I was now installing 033 for a friend.

GREAT job you have done. MANY THANKS!!!

I had actually considered changing the version number in the new package. However I really wanted it to replace the old version and not leave the old version availible. I have just made another update to the PCMCIA package for support of a Surecom network card and if this tests to be working then I will make certain that it gets updated on FREESCOsoft.

I just saw that this version still hasn't found it's way to freescosoft, the version there has no support for the 2.0.40 kernel.

Unfortunately Howler is VERY busy and his time constaints are high. So it may take a while to get everything updated.

I know Howler is very busy (isn't that going on for quite a few years now?) and respect that offcourse.

I thought it wasn't updated because you used the same version number as the previous package.
