DNSMASQ errors - Address already in use

Postby jodo1931 » Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:43 am

Suddenly overnight unable to log on 'Net. Get following error(s) for each DNS entry.
"DNSMASQ [3894] Ignoring Server 68.87.74.xxx NO BIND SOCKET: Address already in Use
Is there a setting to use "DEFAULT" DNS settings from ISP?

Did you try a
Code: Select all
rc_dns restart

You can also disable the caching DNS server in your FREESCO setup completely, but that usually isn't necessary
In your FREESCO settings you already should have provide a default DNS server (the one from your ISP)
FREESCO's DNS server isn't a real name server, its just a caching name server, so it remembers a (set) amount of entries and can thus speed up the DNS process.

If the above does not resolve the problem then provide us a report.txt to see what could be configured incorrectly.
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.

Thanks guys! That did the trick. I have no idea what caused it to decide to quit.
The thing I hated the most while using a "store bought" router as backup was
getting "Pop-Ups". Thanks to Lightning's HOSTS pkg, I'm Happy again!!
I have made NO CHANGES since got 043 running.
Thanks again.
