proxy server with freesco

Postby aurgathor » Wed Aug 20, 2014 9:40 pm

Is it possible to set up a proxy server with freesco? If yes, how? If not, what would be needed to make one? I want something that either require some kind of authentication (don't want an open proxy), or it can be turned on/off remotely. I'm currently running 0.3.7, but I plan to upgrade to 0.4.5 within a week or two.

TIA

The squid package can do what you are asking. However configuring it is the hard part. You may want to join one of the squid forums and do some reading on how to configure it. By default it is configured as a basic proxy server.

Once you have 0.4.5 running type "pkg" from the command line and once it is running push the "s" key to search and type in "squid" and it will show you the entire package name to install it. Then type "i" and the entire name.
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.
