I see no real reason why FREESCO could not be configured for such a connection. However the demo link you provided does not download the software and so I have no idea how or what type of a connection is used, nor how the username and password are sent.
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.

Unfortunately that is not what I am looking for either. What I need is the Linux client to try and convert for FREESCO, which is what you are asking for.

Here's a 24online client for linux: <a href='http://linc.sourceforge.net/' target='_blank'>http://linc.sourceforge.net/</a>

Ok, I got it compiled (with the usual source code modifications...) but I have no means to test the client.

Code: Select all
./linc -h
linc 1.2        24online authentication client
Usage: ./linc [-h] | [-v] | [-d]
-h              Show this help text
-v              Show version
-d              Debug mode

Project homepage at http://linc.sourceforge.net
Mail queries to linc-users@lists.sourceforge.net

The README (see attached) explains howto create a config file. The authentication stuff looks complicated, but there's also a tool in the package that can generate this info based on a clear text password.
Code: Select all
[linux] ./testencrypt secret
authinfo = 1008420061178196077049061236

There's also <a href='http://puggy.symonds.net/~ashish/projects/genlincrc.html' target='_blank'>GenLincRC</a> which looks like a VERY easy (Windoze) tool to create a config file for linc.

Let me know if you are able to test the client in any way. Do you need a add-on package for this? I can probably create something real quick with just the binaries and required lib files, but I have no idea what else is needed (yet) without a little feedback from someone that can actually test this puppy on a real FREESCO with a real 24online account.

baki, it looks like Dingetje has solved the problem and if he will provide a download link then all that should be required is to follow the readme.txt to get it working with FREESCO, hopefully and if you can document your steps it will make it possible for others to do it easily.
If you need any specific help just let me know.

baki, you may have missed the point of my post. I have compiled 24online client for FREESCO based on linc.

I need your assistance to test the client as I'm not able to do so myself (I don't have a 24online account, nor do I want one).

You can install the BETA package with:

Code: Select all
pkg -i http://dingetje.homeip.net/beta/0.3.x/linc_1.2_dingetje

After installation you MUST create a config file first, you can edit the config with:

rc_linc setup

I suggest you use the above mentioned GenLincRC tool to create a config file using your existing windoze client login and then copy that file to your FREESCO.

The config file on FREESCO is /etc/lincrc

After you've created a valid config file you can start the client with:

rc_linc start

You can check the progress of the linc process by looking at your system log, either via the web control panel or by typing this command:

tail /var/log/messages

(for tail command you need to install my utils_1.1_dingetje package first)

You've probably guessed it, you can stop the client with:

rc_linc stop

BEWARE: I have done very little testing! The client seems to start on a test system, but it may not run on your system.

Let me know how it goes!

checking disk space..... xxxx

Are you installing this on a floppy by any chance? How much diskspace is free on the floppy? Maybe I can create a "light" version of the package.

The CyberoamLinuxClient is a compiled binary for a modern linux (libc.so.6), for FREESCO you need a libc.so.5 binary. Is this an Open Source client?

<a href='http://linc.sourceforge.net/' target='_blank'>http://linc.sourceforge.net/</a> = Linc is not cyberroam is an open source client for 24online, that's why I've used it to compile a client for FREESCO.

From my own experience and a quick look at the package, I see no way that this package is going to fit on a floppy install other than as a ram drive package.
So there is two options here, move FREESCO to a hard drive which is the best option or install it as a ram drive package which will work for testing, but it is not a very good long term solution. This can be accomplished by installing the package on a local web or FTP server for instaltion after FREESCO boots or automated in the start) section of the rc_user file if you want to make a preconfigured custom version of the package.
