Sorry.
I meant RDBMS FireBird <a href='http://www.firebirdsql.org/' target='_blank'>http://www.firebirdsql.org/</a>

Is it possible to use FireBird under FREESCO?

The binary linux package won't work, so the only chance is to build it from sources.
I had a first go at it just now, with very low expectations, but to my suprise some of the modules did even compile all the way through, until:

genprops error: unknown bidi class in DerivedBidiClass.txt field 1 at L
make: *** [../data/out/build/icudt30l/uprops.icu] Error 9

:o

The genprops utility is one of the modules that did compile, but I have no idea what that error means nor how to fix it.

I am not sure whether I got further or not on my development machine using Firebird-2.0.1.12855-0 which is the latest release version before the current beta version. But my compile ended with
Code: Select all
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2.3/crtendS.o: In function `init_dummy':
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2.3/crtendS.o(.text+0x52): undefined reference to `___brk_addr'
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2.3/crtendS.o(.text+0x58): undefined reference to `__environ'
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2.3/crtendS.o(.text+0x61): undefined reference to `atexit'
make[5]: *** [../lib/libicudata.so.30.0] Error 1
make[5]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/Firebird-2.0.1.12855-0/extern/icu/source/data'
make[4]: *** [packagedata] Error 2
make[4]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/Firebird-2.0.1.12855-0/extern/icu/source/data'
make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 2
make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/Firebird-2.0.1.12855-0/extern/icu/source'
make[2]: *** [libicu] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/Firebird-2.0.1.12855-0/gen'
make[1]: *** [external_libraries] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/Firebird-2.0.1.12855-0/gen'
make: *** [firebird] Error 2

But it did compile for some time and it really looks like it could compile with a small amount of tinkering from a more knowledgeable individual.

It's difficult for me to estimate problems of compilation.
As it seems to me of something is absent in sources.

Didn"t You try more earlier versions (1.5.x or even 1.0.x)

They where more compact, but 1.5.4, for example, had acceptable functionality.

Last versions are intended for x586-x686 and are more complex.
So under windows instead of one DLL has appeared a little bit more.
