Ctorrent Control Server

3rd Party Package Requesting

Postby firewall » Wed Jan 09, 2008 10:56 am

Hi, I'm just wondering if there is any ctorrent control server package so that I can use this feature.

Currently, I have to manually download one bittorrent using the command line ctorrent because I cant see multiple download status but if i were to use the control server. I can monitor many downloads and download more at the same time.

Would someone help me out with this package?

Many thanks.

You may consider installing the 'screen' package. That is sort-of-a ALT-TAB for FREESCO. It offers multiple terminal sessions that can be switched back-and-forth and sessions even will continue to run if you logout. You can reconnect to a running session when you log back in. Its maybe not as fancy as a ctorrent control server package but it may do the trick as well.

Hi dingetje,

Thank you for your prompt response. I'm wondering if i'm in office using putty to connect to my box at home. Would the "screen" package still work as what you mentioned?

Cheers!

Hi dingetje,

I believe that the link you gave has a package where it does not work.

I also have a slightly modified version of the screen package on my web site. The original was not 100% compatible with regards to the linux terminal that is used and caused problems on newer FREESCO versions.

Code: Select all
pkg -i http://lewys-spot.dyndns.org/packages/0.3.x/screen_3.9.8-1_tom

Hi Lightning,

Good to see you. Thanks for ya explanation. So if this version is not working and i need multiple torrents to be loading all at the same time. Any other software that can work with my box version 038?

Please advise. :D

Hi dingetje,

I'm referring to this package code within your screen package announcement post

pkg -i <a href='ftp://toms.homelinux.org/packages/03x/screen_3.9.8_tom' target='_blank'>ftp://toms.homelinux.org/packages/03x/screen_3.9.8_tom</a>

This does not work either.

Please advise. :D

You miss understood, the version on my site DOES work and I modified it just a small amount to make it compatible. Which is why there is a very slight version number change.

pkg -i <a href='http://lewys-spot.dyndns.org/packages/0.3.x/screen_3.9.8-1_tom' target='_blank'>http://lewys-spot.dyndns.org/packages/0.3....een_3.9.8-1_tom</a>

is not able to be install into Freesco version 038?

Because i tried and I cannot get it to install, is there other alternative?

I know the package installs, so I am thinking there is another issue here either with the system or with how you are trying to install it.

Is this a hard drive install ?
Does FREESCO actually have Internet access, and by this I do not mean do clients have Internet access through FREESCO. But rather Internet web access directly from the console ?

If you are not sure on this, I suggest posting in 03x support and include a report.txt

Hi Lightning,

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, this box has direct internet access using pppoe on adsl and i tried installing through the option package on the main menu by typing "setup" in the command prompt.

Attached is report.txt

Make certain to type this command exactly as follows directly from the command prompt and not from within the setup.
Code: Select all
pkg -i http://lewys-spot.dyndns.org/packages/0.3.x/screen_3.9.8-1_tom

If you have a Windows machine with PuTTy installed then you can open an SSH window and copy and paste it on the command line.
