DropBox for 0.4.x ??

Postby bob selby » Wed Nov 10, 2010 5:49 am

I've started using DropBox to allow me to work from home but I dont really want to put DropBox on every windows machine and it occured to me
that since the firewall has a windoze share accessible by all the windoze boxes it would be nice if there were a DorpBox client for 0.4.0.

I'd only be interested in the deamon - the "GUI" would be from the windoze boxes via the Samba share.

There is a linux version and the sources are available here ...

I'd have a go myself but it's a bit beyond me :-(

That link points to a Linux add-on for a Nautilus file manager (GNOME), pretty useless on FREESCO.

However, this http://wiki.dropbox.com/TipsAndTricks/T ... nuxInstall looks like it might work, however one of the requirements is Python 2.5 and there's no Python 2.5 package for FREESCO (yet).

* update *

I've downloaded that tarball and unfortunately it contains only compiled libraries (.so) and no source code. No doubt for a modern linux kernel and libc6 distro. Sorry...

I was under the impression that the sources I pointed to also contained those for a deamon ... oh well :-(

OK, I did a little more research and it seems they do not release the sources for the daemon :-(

Shame, but never mind.
